A PRESERVATION PLAN FOR PHILADELPHIA
Philadelphia is widely recognized as a city with abundant historic buildings and distinctive historic neighborhoods. But how does the preservation of these historic resources fit into a larger vision of the growth and development of the city? What buildings in our historic neighborhoods can or should be preserved? What neighborhoods should be protected as historic districts?
The Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia has launched an initiative to create a comprehensive preservation plan for the city of Philadelphia and to undertake a citywide survey of historic resources. The first phases of this work are complete. Click the following links to read our strategic vision for preservation in Philadelphia and our survey plan:

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Most of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods have never been surveyed for historic resources, and we have a large and complex task ahead to conduct a citywide survey of our neighborhoods’ assets and landmark buildings.
We need your help to identify historic resources in your neighborhood (or elsewhere in the city) that are worth preserving.
- Click here to upload a photo of a historic resource in your neighborhood that is worth preserving.
- To see what historic resources others have suggested, click here to go our “Neighborhoods” page and select a neighborhood.
- To stay up-to-date on critical preservation issues, click here to sign up for the Preservation Alliance’s monthly E-news mailing list.
With your help we can preserve the distinctive character of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods for future generations.
